From its beginning in 1931 when Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington created this non-profit outdoor museum with its majestic oaks and world-renowned sculpture it has been a place to restore your soul and renew your spirit. New in 2010 Whispering Wings Butterfly House features thousands of butterflies native to the Southeast and supports our mission to exhibit the animals and plants of the area. Brookgreen offers a selection of daily tours, and programs plus cruises on a pontoon boat and back-road excursions on the Trekker. Walk the historic Lowcountry Trail, then it’s on to the Lowcountry Zoo where you will see native animals – alligators, eagles, owls, hawks, foxes, otters, wild turkeys, and deer in their natural habitats. Its beautiful gardens, rich historical sites, accredited zoo and gracious southern hospitality tempt you to return again and again.
